Quick announcements! π
Getting your feedback and what is in the plans to add to the 'Under The Radar' letter
Hey!
The letter has been going for about two months now and I have seen some good traction and great feedback from people.
I wanted to cover some feedback and to be transparent about what is in the plans to add to the letter going forward.
For free subscribers:
You will receive the Under The Radar letter once per month. 5 trends in that letter with the same broad focus.
For paid subscribers:
Custom requests - In the last letter, we mentioned running internet aesthetics (e.g. normcore) through our Google Trends algorithm. A paid subscriber was keen on this as well. Iβll update on it early next week. I canβt take loads of custom requests at the moment but with more paid subscribers this will definitely be possible. E.g. βCan you find 4-5 trends in pet treats?β. If just one subscriber wants it, I will mail individually to avoid spamming everyone else!
Guest posts - Iβm not an expert in every area so I wanted to feature guest articles or podcasts on trends in specific areas from both paid subscribers and outside. Maybe some VCs, hedge fund guys etc. if I can get them as well. But I wonβt promise specifics yet.
Once the letter has hit a threshold of paid subscribers I am planning to do more regular emails for you, the weekly broader letter will stay the same but I will also do 8 or so other emails featuring 5 trends each. These emails will be based on diving down into under-the-radar trends in more specific verticals. The ones I have on my horizon at the moment are: Beauty, fashion, gaming, pets, household, food/drink, ecommerce, cannabis. But open to suggestions when the time is right.
In addition to the above. I will take requests from paid subscribers on an industry or specific niche that they want to see more trends from.
In the long-run, if content becomes hard to navigate without tags I may transfer the subscription programme to Wordpress or some other system e.g. Ghost. I have asked Substack about post tags but not had much response on this. Nothing would change on your side in terms of payments etc. but it will be easier (hopefully) to go back through old posts and find stuff you are interested in or get alerts when specific sectors relevant to you are mentioned. Something for the long-term.
Any other feedback or things you would like to see please email me and let me know!
Disclosure: Yes i know βyourβ is spelt incorrectly in the above meme, itβs not my meme.
Further point β¬οΈ
It is just me, Rob, running the letter at the moment.
I have clients and thatβs what I do full-time but I find this work super interesting and I want to grow it into a bigger communityβ¦
To give you guys more value at a really good price (the paid subscription price will stay the same) and eventually have it as a primary focus.
I know some research agencies and consultancies would charge at least 10x for what we put out monthly and the value isnβt always there.
With more emails and more specific sectors for each of those additional emails for paid subscribers, I hope the value is going to get even better for you.
